What is email?
Email stands for electronic mail and is a means of sending messages
from one person to another using the Internet as your carrier, much
like using the postal service. It has many similarities to a normal
postal system. Every person who uses email has their own unique
email address. When writing a message, the sender may refer to their
address book to check what the email address of a friend is. They
then write their message, include a return address, even a signature.
Once the message is ready to be sent it is handed in to their mail
server (post office) for delivery.
What is an email address?
An email address is a unique address which identifies you on the
Internet. Addresses are in the form name@place (the @ symbol
is pronounced "at").
